MATHOME TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT (Pty) Ltd: 10th year anniversary.

In the year 2003 on the 5th day of May Mathome Training & Development was born. It was born out of the desire and passion to bring to par the gap that existed between labour and skill. Its founder Mr Mathome Tshehla, a man well versed with the technical knowhow on both matters concerning mining and business has made strides into the development of the company into one of the most respected training and development service providers.

It started off as a Close Corporation, and a one man operation that rendered services for among others South African Women in the Mining Association (SAWIMA) and the Mining Qualifications Authority Sector Education and Training Authority (MQA-SETA). Amongst some of the services rendered were: Business management, Careers in the mining industry, financial management, Employment Equity, and Skills Development Act Implementation, training for the managers and union members in the mining industry. In 2004 the company grew from one employee to 4. It was later converted into a Private Company thus becoming MATHOME TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT (Proprietary) Limited

A year later in 2005 the company got provisional accreditation from MQA, and SABS granted the company an ISO 9001:2000 accreditation. It was this year that the company staff compliment grew to 25. 2005 marked a big landscape in our growth as the Limpopo Ga-Malekane Village branch became fully operational.

The company continued to grow and dominated the mining industry training environment which saw us landing our first learnership agreements with the MQA in 2009. Under those learnership agreements we registered and trained 150 learners. The number was reduced due to opening of new mines in the Limpopo regions, thus employing most of those who had gotten skills programmes. We were left with 74 learners who went on to complete the learner ship programmes successfully and we are happy to announce that all were employed upon completion.

The Company was granted full accreditation by MQA in 2010, and also moved from ISO 9001:2000 to ISO 9001:2008. To date MATHOME TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT (Pty) Ltd has trained close to 10 000 people across the board from mining machines to Skills programmes in and out of the mines. We have had projects carried out in and around South Africa from Zambia, Zimbabwe etc. Our wings continue to grow as there is no project too big, complex, simple or small for us to tackle. We now have over 4 operational branches ranging from Limpopo, North West, Gauteng and Mpumalanga. To date 99% of all people trained by MATHOME TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT (Pty) Ltd from the communities are employed. The passion, to skill our own communities is still high, and we’ll soon be opening private FET College in the four provinces mentioned above.
